Deployment Delivery...delivered.

After starting my business something I wanted to do to give back to my military community and something I felt close to my heart was what I call a Deployment Delivery. That is when a family is affected by a deployment and will miss the delivery of their child. I feel close to this because my husband, Frank, missed the birth of our first child. He left 2 weeks prior to her birth, and while I had the two very best people in the world with me (Krstyal and Tyler) documenting and providing support in their own unique ways, I wish I would have gotten Shaelyn's birth on film. So I have decided once a year to give a gift of photography, to a family separated by deployment during a birth. I was unable to give a birth session to this family, but did my best and gave a hospital session.
Walking into the room and smelling the smells brought me back 7 months ago when I had Emmitt. I am a person that links memories to smells and songs... so it was so powerful to me. Brought me back to those emotions of first having a baby, because those smells are the same as when I had my daughter. It's a warmth inside my soul that I could never describe, I only hope every mom also experiences it :) Okay, onto why your here... the hospital session.

{B} Maternity

Our latest trip back to Erie I had a session with one of my cousin's dearest friends. The weather almost didn't corporate with us, but thank heavens the rain missed us! :) It actually turned out to be beautiful weather wise, it was chilly- but she was pregnant, and if I remember correctly (AND I DO!) your always hot when your pregnant!

{S} Family

This is my momma's brother and his family. The haven't had family pictures done in 14 years... yes I said it FOURTEEN YEARS!!! My Nana and Papa had a picture of my aunt and uncle from the early 90's on display..... perms. Yes, perms- oh and those awful lets take up the whole face glasses. Yep I had them too... think Harry Potter style glasses x10 in size, totally over took your face. So our visit in May was time for them to update! They have such beautiful property and it was a gorgeous evening that we were able to take advantage of it. We ended the session with hotdogs and smores on a campfire :).

{C} Maternity

I was contacted by a momma to be who asked for a session like Jessica Simpson's, aka Nude.
I can't tell you how thrilled I was to FINALLY capture the beauty of a women carrying her unborn child in this light. My client was so beautiful, and together we fell right in sync. I always enjoying sessions where my clients are comfortable behind the camera and are in tune with their bodies... she was such a delight to capture. With out further adieu..... I present The Beauty of Motherhood.

She also asked me to do an outdoor session with her :) So right after we headed out. I'm not sure I've had a more adventurous session, then mine with her.... we saw lots of interesting things and even scared ourselves silly because of a river otter. Of course we didn't know it was a river otter until we got home and googled it. Good times. Lots of laughs.

{H} Newborn

Newborn sessions. I can never stop saying, "Awe, she/he is so adorable, tiny, cute, beautiful, so tiny" and so on. It's bad. Really. Bad. I just can't help it! They are so stinking cute! And when you have a giant 6 month old at home it's hard not to think and say so.
Now this baby, oh my she was so so tiny. She couldn't wait to meet her Mommy and Daddy so she was a little early and tiny! I met her and she was still just 5lbs 5 oz. But my goodness so very alert for a tiny baby. When I picked her up it she felt light as a feather. I miss those days. Thank heavens my clients will always be having babies so I can get a quick newborn fix (since our newborn days are over).
This little girl is going to be a beauty when she grows older, she is gonna keep her Mommy and Daddy on her toes!

{V} Family

A couple of weeks ago I had the pleasure of taking my old neighbors family pictures. Their Daddy just got back from a deployment earlier in the month and it was a perfect time to watch them reconnect & capture their time together.

I had so much fun with this session as they were all so natural! I just followed them around the beach :) We all got soaked! But what's a beach trip without getting wet and sandy!
